Meet ANGELA

Hello, I am a teacher by trade, but truly an entrepreneur at heart.

I was married young, had my two children, Chad and Jessica, and did the best I could as a parent and wife, but found myself divorced, raising the kids independently.

It was then I realized I needed to support my family somehow. Having been a stay-at-home mom for five years, I realized how important it was for my kids to have one stable parent in their life and I figured out how to be able to continue to be at home while still creating an income.

My dad, a shop teacher who had built Chad a beautiful large wooden rocking horse for his first birthday, showed me how to build another - and that started my career in woodworking and doing craft shows to make a living for that first year.

When I look back now, I don't remember struggling as a parent. However, there must have been times when I was lost because I was constantly looking for ways to improve my parenting, reading books, and listening to the Dr. Laura Radio talk show.

As time went on that first year, it was obvious that getting up at three in the morning while the kids were sleeping in order to complete my projects in my basement workshop was not going to work for the long-term. It was then that I realized I needed to complete my education and get a teaching degree. It was during that time that I met my now-husband, Jack, and we were married a few years after I started teaching.

I loved teaching the kids, especially those who were less fortunate and who had come from a tough family life.

The other teachers in the staff room would call them the "sweat hogs" and tease me about having to teach them because I was a first-year teacher. I hated the energy that the staff room gave off, but I fell in love with these kids. They were honest, ready to learn, and had straightforward personalities.

It took so little praise to make them work hard and show respect to me, as I found myself listening to them and giving them the respect they never had from other teachers or adults.

Looking back, it was a glimpse into my spirit of hope for those less fortunate, and now I know it was the start of my journey to where I am today with Creating Champions For Life.

However, my entrepreneurial spirit continued to nag at my soul, and it wasn't long before I left my teaching career and began raising Sport Horses. Here, I would be involved in a young foal's life right from conception (as I did artificial insemination with our mares) to bringing them into the world and shaping their personalities so as to preserve their sensitive sprits, while at the same time recognizing the important job of preparing them for their next owner. I wanted to give a new owner no reason to be rough or beat them due to their ignorance of not understanding how a horse learns.

I continued to grow as a horse trainer and began working with someone I consider the world's best "horse whisperer," Chris Irwin. I began to understand how to "Speak Horse" and bring these beautiful creatures along so they would willingly do their best to please! I remember our horses would always gallop from the far end of the pasture with just a holler! They loved to be handled and worked under saddle.

I would often sell them sight unseen by putting together a video showcasing their personalities and willingness to do the work. We would often sell two horses to the same owner for a period of years due to the success they had with them.

At this time, I realized how similar it was to raise horses and kids. Both were born into the world an empty vessel with their own independent free spirit - just looking to be shown how the world works. I vowed that someday I would write a book, "Of Kids and Horses."

Little did I know that the book would need to wait because there was so much more in store for me before I truly understood what it meant to raise cooperative, independent and confident children.

Time passed, and soon I was a Grammy to four beautiful grandsons. Two from each of my two children.

I realize today that my daughter's first son, Jakobi, was a gift from God, as he challenged everything I thought I ever knew about parenting. My daughter was struggling greatly after the birth of Jakobi's little brother because his defiant behavior proved too much for her and his dad's parenting abilities. They were frustrated, overwhelmed and didn't know where to turn.

I began searching online for answers. There were a million parenting courses, and people were saying they had the answer. I encouraged Jessica to listen to podcasts on parenting with consequences and to take an online course called Positive Parenting. It seemed to help a little at first, but it was only temporary, and much of it was a short-lived success.

I remember clearly, one day, sitting in my home office and scrolling through my Facebook feed, when up popped a notification for a live video with Bonnie and Thomas Liotta! I hadn't thought about Bonnie for years. You see, when I entered the world of building business, she had mentored me to success and was a major influence in my personal development journey, which had created so many blessings in my life.

I knew she was doing something with parenting and working with kids, but until now I didn't need to connect on that level. I quickly turned up the sound on the live video - and by the end, I was crying with gratitude that they might be the answer to my sweet Jakobi's troubled spirit.

I immediately reached out and was met with open arms by both Bonnie and Thomas, who were more than willing to help my daughter learn how to parent their boys.

It was truly like magic watching Thomas with Jakobi, and the transformation was incredible.

It was then I knew I had to be somehow a part of what they were doing. They had something the world needed, something I had always known in my heart.

If we are to change the world, we need to start with the children. And that is exactly their mission.

Soon, it was obvious that we had all come together at the right time, now, with all the skills and knowledge that are necessary to take this mission to the world.

I am more than grateful for Bonnie and Thomas having gone on the journey they did - to bring us to where we are today.

I am proud and excited to be a part of this mission to Create Champions For Life as the Chief Operating Officer.

I'M SO GRATEFUL FOR CCFL
