Calling All Mothers: Rise Up for the Next Generation
Calling All Mothers: Rise Up for the Next Generation
Moms and dads, I'm here with a message that could transform the way you parent and change the course of your child's future.
If you're a parent dealing with challenges like ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, anxiety, depression, or sensory processing disorder, you understand how overwhelming it can be. You want your child to thrive, but the common advice seems to be medication and years of therapy. But what if there’s another way? A way that actually equips your child with the life skills they need to succeed?
Guiding, Not Punishing
Dr. John Locke once said that children are better guided than punished because their behavior is driven by curiosity, not a sinful nature. Children don't inherently know how to navigate the world—they need us to teach them. They need to learn everything from sitting straight in a chair to using manners and opening doors for others. If we only react to inappropriate behavior, we're missing the chance to teach them how to act appropriately in the first place.
Teaching Through Positive Guidance
What if your child doesn’t understand what you consider inappropriate behavior? They might just be exploring, relying on you to guide them. Rather than acting as a drill sergeant, enforcing rules and doling out consequences, we can walk beside them, teaching them how to interact with the world step by step.
The Power of Positive Parenting
Think about your daily interactions with your child. Have you proactively shown them how to do the things you expect? For instance, making the bed—have you demonstrated it, let them try, and encouraged them until they master it? When you do everything for your child—cooking, cleaning, driving, refereeing their disputes—you inadvertently send the message that they can't achieve anything without you. This diminishes their desire and zest for life.
Becoming a Champion for Your Child
I'm here to champion children and families. There is a way to create proactive plans that empower your child to navigate experiences and achieve their desired results. This approach not only empowers them but also gives them a sense of control over their own lives. The results are magical.
Your child has the potential to cooperate with you and become anything they desire. Instead of relying on gentle consequences, step into your role as a leader. Be their guide, love them unconditionally, and allow them opportunities to say, "Hey, Mom, look at me! Look what I did." When you embrace this revolutionary, empowering way of parenting, you will see incredible results. Your child will not only cooperate but will do so happily, complete their chores and homework, and step into their genius selves.
You Have the Power
Teachers and therapists can help, but you are the key to your child’s success. You love your children more than anyone else and have the power to make a difference. From one mom to another, I encourage you to learn all you can about Creating Champions for Life.
